I’m Christy, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and the heart behind Between Breaths Counseling. My work is rooted in the belief that healing doesn’t happen by forcing change, but by creating enough safety and space for something new to emerge.
In my work, I focus on slowing things down, paying attention to what’s happening beneath the surface, and helping clients build a steadier relationship with themselves. My approach is collaborative, thoughtful, and grounded in respect for your pace and lived experience.
Training and Education
I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of Akron and am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in the state of Ohio. As part of my training, I completed an internship at The Traumatic Stress Center, where I worked with individuals navigating the impact of trauma and chronic stress.
This experience continues to inform my work today, particularly in how I approach safety, pacing, and the way trauma can live in both the body and relationships. I bring these lenses into my work with care and intention, always attuned to each client, unique history and capacity.
Professional Experience
My professional path has included work in substance use treatment, school based counseling with elementary and middle school students, and private practice with adults. These experiences shaped how I understand the ways coping strategies develop, how early experiences, influence, emotional patterns, and how changed often unfolds overtime rather than all at once.
This background allows me to meet adult clients with both compassion and perspective, holding the complexity of where they've been while supporting where they want to go.
